The children of the area are well served by the local primary schools including an Irish Medium Unit. St. Joseph's High School in Crossmaglen has consistently produced excellent results at exam time. There is also a bus service to other second level schools in the Newry area.

Kernan Equestrian Centre is run by former Aga Khan Trophy winner and Olympian, James Kernan, within walking distance of Crossmaglen's Cardinal O'Fiaich Square.

Golfing enthusiasts can test their skills on several golf courses not far from Crossmaglen including Ashfield, Cloverhill, and Concra Wood which was designed by two of Ireland's Golfing legends - Christy O'Connor Senior and Junior.

Those whose idea of peace and tranquillity is by the shore of a lake fishing will find no fault in the many angling venues of South Armagh.

If the above activities are not for your children then the many Youth Clubs of the area provide a suitable alternative outlet for their energy.

Leisure

Walking - a number of the local GAA clubs have a walking track if you don't want to be out on the road. If you do, the scenery, if not the walking, will take your breath away! (Poet's Glen, Corliss Fort, Camlough Lake, Lough Ross, etc.)

Visit the Ring of Gullion website at www.ringofgullion.org to get excellent, up-to-date information of the area's rich history as well as up-coming activities and events. The Slieve Gullion Forest Park Giant's Lair and Adventure Playpark is a wonderful recreational facility for the area and attracts large numbers throughout the year.

Crossmaglen has a branch of the Bank of Ireland along with a new "State of the Art" building for its Credit Union. The Post Office is now located within the Centra Supermarket offering extended hours of business.

There is a Fire Station in Crossmaglen which provides a wide area with emergency cover when needed. Crossmaglen & District First Responders, established in 2015, are available to assist in emergency cases, directly linked to 999 service.
